The cold snap has finally arrived in London and it is suddenly freezing. If anyone is struggling to find the motivation to train in these colder months then a while ago I wrote all about it here.
Monday – Running Home and Self Defence (4.78 miles, 36:28)
Recently in London there was an awful series of sex attacks against young women, and my friend Poppy thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a self-defence lesson.
On Monday evening we had a private lesson with Chris from The Combat Defence League but he also runs classes on a Saturday morning. He practises a series of martial arts and self-defence work, and provided a really great atmosphere to learn in. In an hour we were bellowing out commands of GET BACK, protecting our heads from attack, performing the anaconda on each other – not to mention wrestling each other to the ground.
It was a really worthwhile exercise and one we shall definitely be repeating in the future. If anyone is interested the details can be found here.
Tuesday – Circuits
15 Squat to Press (5kg DB)
10 Box Jumps (60)
10 Push Ups to Rows (5kg DB)
20 Single Leg Deadlifts (10 each leg, 5KG DB)
– Treadmill Sprint: 200m at 13km/h at inclines 3 -7. Rest in between sprints
20 KB swings (16kg)
Heavy Walking Lunges (10kg DB)
10 Walkouts to Mountain Climbers
Wednesday – Barre Bootcamp at Bootcamp Pilates
This was definitely out of my comfort zone, but really enjoyed it. It’s all about small controlled movements that break a sweat rather than a crazy heart rate.
Thursday – Rest Day (potentially hungover..)
Friday – Rest Day (potentially hungover..again.. silly season cometh)
Saturday – Spin
I got back on it with Saturday morning spin with my flatmate Tiffany. I find it so much easier to find the motivation to not only go but also work hard if I’m in the routine of going to something with a friend.
Sunday Runday (6.67 miles, 51:32)
