A Week in My Trainers

Silly Season has well and truly arrived, and I’ve written about some tips and tricks you can use to enjoy yourself without losing all control and semblance of a healthy lifestyle.

However, the flip side of less than spectacular eating and drinking on school nights means little time to be active and go to the gym.  Every week I feel like I write a new reason for why I’ve been busy, but I really do feel that the only way to maintain being active and busy professionally and socially is to do exercise in a way that you like.  I’ve not been very active this week compared to normal because I’ve had a lot on at work and I’ve been enjoying myself at Christmas parties.  However, what I have done I have ensured I get bang for my buck in terms of both enjoyment and an effective workout.

I also discovered free Porridge every Thursday at Press London.  To launch their Synergy Porridge they’re giving away free porridge every Thursday at the moment and it was such an amazing start to the day.

Monday – Rest Day

Wednesday – Pre-Work Run (3.36 miles, 25:37, 7.37 minutes per mile)

Thursday – Circuits

3x

500m Sprint at 11km/h on an incline of 5

10x Plyo Box Jumps to Burpees (60 Box)

20 Single Arm Rows to Windmill (5kg DB)

20x Zuu Squat to Deadlifts

20x KB Swings (16kg KB)

5x Bear Crawls

10x Crunch to Leg Extension

I’ve written before about how much I love the Earthmiles app, and I recently got a notification about the latest reward; a free Small Group PT session at Lomax.  Having been intrigued by the famous Chelsea gym for ages I redeemed the voucher straight away, and I was lucky to have the day off work on Friday so went down for the Ass-Assasinator with Theodora.

I wasn’t sure if I should expect a PT session or a gym class, but it was definitely more in the style of a PT session.  Theodora took me through a series of exercises that used bar weights, body weight and free weights for a really great structured workout.  I really enjoyed having Theodora there to make sure my form was correct and that I saw out each exercise to the full number of reps.  I’d really recommend giving it a try, especially if you want to try working out with weights but aren’t sure where to start.  A session is £30 or 250 Earthmiles.

And that’s it.  No more workouts for the week, but I did get the best secret santa gift of all time…
