A Week in my Trainers – VMLM Training Week Five

This has been a week of taking things easy on the running front for me as my legs still feel a bit like jelly after a few days in ski boots.  I haven’t felt like I have had much power to bring to my workouts, so I’ve scaled back a bit and done what I felt I could do well and am feeling a million times better for it and ready to attack the next few weeks and keep working hard to beat my previous time of 3:42 and raise as much money as possible for the  Alzheimer’s Society.  Thanks so much to anyone who has already sponsored me, and if you’d like to find out about my fundraising then please visit https://www.justgiving.com/runningforaugust.

Monday – Still in ski boots

Tuesday – M.E.S Workout E

I also used my day off on Tuesday to tick off a NYE resolution and I gave blood.  I’ve had a few people ask me what it was like, and essentially it’s a slightly scarier blood test that goes on for a few minutes.  I felt a little tired for the rest of the afternoon but I’m really pleased that I did it.  If anyone is interested then details can be found here.

Saturday – Urban Movement

I shall write a longer post about this in the week, but essentially this was the first fitness festival held by PayasUgym and hosted by Bradley Simmonds.  We were treated to ten minute blasts of the different sorts of classes that PayasUgym offer in the cool surroundings of Village Underground.  As well as a good sweat and even better goody bag, it was great to find out a bit more about what you can get from PayasUgym as previously I wasn’t too sure what was on offer, catch up with Laura Murray and Jen from Sweat and Swagger, and most importantly all the proceeds went to Sport Relief.  A great charity, a great workout and a great saturday morning; triple win.

Sunday – Long Run

My god my legs felt like jelly today.  I still did well to keep up a good pace, but I felt like I had nothing left in the tank and totally battered by the wind.  However, I’m really proud of myself for pushing through and it was a B.E.A.utiful day for it – crisp, cool and doused in winter sunlight.  Ideal for a river run to explore my favourite city.
